Otoplasty – Ear correction
Get perfect ears in just half an hour!
Otoplasty corrects the irregular structure of the ears and, most importantly, places the overly prominent ears outwards in a direction closer to the head, thus solving the problem.
The procedure as such is one of the most common procedures performed in aesthetic medicine and lasts only (depending on the complexity of the procedure) between half an hour to an hour.
Otoplasty
The problem of protruding ears can be seen at the earliest age. In children, already in the third or fourth year of life, it can be clearly said whether the child’s ears will be detached, because the growth and development of the ear ends in the fourth year.
The first serious children’s socialization begins at that age and mocking children because of their ears can be a great trauma for both the child and his parents, so most parents decide to correct and operate on the ears in preschool.
The procedure of correcting such an anomaly in children and adults is called otoplasty. The procedure is performed in adults under local anesthesia, and in smaller children in general. Otoplasty can be performed with several techniques, but the first examination and consultation with a doctor is of vital importance, during which every step of the procedure will be explained to the patient in detail. The procedure as such is one of the most common procedures performed in aesthetic medicine and lasts only (depending on the complexity of the procedure) between half an hour to an hour.
Otoplasty can improve the shape of the ear, its position and even its volume. Otoplasty corrects the irregular structure of the ears and, most importantly, places the overly prominent ears outwards in a direction closer to the head, thus solving the problem. Anyone who is aware of this flaw, be it a child at the earliest age or an adult, must know that surgery is almost routine and the success rate is almost 98%. If the patient wants to solve the problem such as:
• Ears with large folds and a pronounced relief type of cartilage
• Stretched or amorphous ears
• Small ears
• Dissatisfaction with previous ear surgery
• Asymmetrical ears
Dental Center Ostojić is the right place for solving this aesthetic anomaly.
As we mentioned before, the procedure lasts between 30-60 minutes. A small incision is made behind the ears and the cartilage is pulled back towards the head and it is positioned in the exact desired place as agreed priorly with the patients and the possibility of the physiognomy of the ears. After obtaining the desired aesthetics, the place of cutting and pulling the skin is sewn and these same seams are left to keep the ear in its new position.
The patient will be wrapped in bandages to fix the ear after the operation and prevent it from moving. The sutures are removed within a week. Mild pain after surgery, itching under the bandage are possible, but nothing more severe. Adults can return to their normal daily activities after a week, and children if they attend kindergarten or school can also continue with theirs.
Before the operation you should:
• Avoid acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin)
• If an adult smokes – stop at least 2-3 days before and after surgery
• Avoid anti-inflammatory drugs.
After surgery:
• You should sleep in an upright elevated position – never on your side or create pressure on your ears after surgery
• Hair washing is allowed after one week (after removing the bandage)
• Wear an elastic band for at least 3-4 weeks, which is given after removing the bandage and serves as a kind of fixative
• Be aware that the result obtained by otoplasty is permanent!
• Use painkillers after surgery for a maximum of three days (pain after surgery disappears within 24 hours)
• Follow your doctor’s instructions
Put yourself in the hands of top experts and solve your or your child’s aesthetic problem, which can be a great psychological burden. Modelling the cartilage and sticking the earlobe to the head is a painless procedure, and in a short period of time it improves the quality of life and the overall aesthetic appearance of a person!
